Meet Erik Flexner

I was born in Israel to a Danish mother and an American father, and from the beginning, life was anything but conventional. I’ve lived on four continents, studied and worked around the world, and learned to communicate across languages, cultures, and perspectives. Those experiences shaped the way I approach both people and problems—with curiosity, adaptability, and the belief that there is almost always more than one way to get something done.

For more than two decades, I’ve brought that global perspective to Los Angeles real estate, successfully representing more than 700 home sales and leases. While my work takes me throughout Los Angeles and beyond, I’m especially known for my expertise in Hancock Park, Windsor Square, Brookside, Larchmont Village, Lafayette Square, and Wellington Square. I work with sellers, buyers, and investors, bringing decades of high-level negotiation experience, deep market knowledge, an extensive professional network, and a creative, strategic approach to every transaction.

My experience also extends well beyond residential brokerage. For more than 20 years, Jenna and I have been active real estate investors, personally buying and selling nearly 20 investment properties with a combined value exceeding $50 million. Our investments have spanned commercial and residential real estate, including triple-net retail, industrial, warehouse, multifamily, and single-family properties. Investing with our own capital has given me a firsthand understanding of how to evaluate opportunities, assess risk, create value, and approach real estate from an owner’s perspective—not simply as an agent.

Experience has taught me that successful real estate is about much more than numbers. It’s about understanding people, anticipating challenges, negotiating effectively, and finding solutions when the obvious path isn’t necessarily the best one. Every client, property, and transaction is different, and I believe the best results come from knowing when to push, when to listen, and when to think outside the box.

Relationships have always been at the center of how I work. I founded the Hancock Park Referral Network as well as the Japan Referral Network, one of the most successful Japanese-focused professional networking organizations on the West Coast. Over the years, those communities have reinforced something I’ve always believed: the right relationships—and knowing how to bring the right people together—can open doors and solve problems in ways that technology alone never can.

My path to real estate has been unconventional, to say the least. Along the way, I became a Rhodes Scholarship semifinalist, worked in the U.S. Congress, attended the Kyoto Summit, jogged with President Clinton, danced as an extra with the Kirov Ballet, and performed Brazilian dance on stages including the Ford Amphitheatre, Kodak Theatre, and L.A. Theatre Center. There was also “The Longest Commute in the World.” Ask me about that one.

One of the relationships I value most began in 2001, when I became a Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles. More than 25 years later, my “little” and I remain part of each other’s lives—a relationship that has become one of the longest and most meaningful chapters of mine.

At home, I’m a father of four, dog dad to Popcorn, and married to my partner in life and business, Jenna. After a lifetime spent crossing cultures, continents, careers, and the occasional unexpected stage, I’ve learned that curiosity, relationships, and creative thinking can take you remarkably far. I bring that same perspective to real estate: listen closely, know your market, think several moves ahead, and never assume there’s only one way to get the best result.
